Leading with Neuroscience: VAAV’s 4th Cohort Executive Journey for Quality Kathmandu Schools

The landscape of modern education is shifting. Today, we understand that nurturing a thriving academic environment requires more than just academic rigor—it requires a profound understanding of the human brain.

Recently, VAAV Wellbeing had the distinct honor of partnering with Quality Kathmandu Schools (QKS) to launch the 4th Cohort of our flagship executive learning journey: “A Neuroscience & SEL Approach to Emotional Safety.”

Hosted at the beautiful Sanskriti International School, this initial two-day, in-person session brought together 24 enthusiastic, forward-thinking educators representing 16 different schools across the valley.

Moving Beyond Surface-Level Behavior Management

For decades, classroom management has relied on top-down approaches—focusing primarily on correcting behaviors as they occur. However, our 3-month executive learning journey challenges this traditional model. We focus on a bottom-up safety framework that prioritizes the biological foundations of learning and emotional regulation.

During the sessions, we explore how the Autonomic Nervous System dictates how children and adults respond to stress, connection, and their environment. By understanding this neurobiology, educators can shift their perspective from asking “Why is this student acting out?” to “How can we create an environment where this student’s nervous system feels safe enough to learn?”

This foundational sense of safety is the prerequisite for all meaningful academic and personal growth, building the essential emotional capacity students need without relying on outdated metrics of compliance.

Tailored for Educational Leadership

Building a truly regulated school ecosystem starts at the top. This specialized cohort was tailored specifically for Directors, Principals, and Coordinators. When school leaders grasp the profound impact of systemic Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and neuroscience, it creates a ripple effect that transforms the entire culture of the institution.

The leaders in this 4th Cohort are now equipped with the precise, science-backed tools necessary to guide their teaching staff and support their students with empathy, awareness, and structural safety.

Facilitated by Leading Voices in SEL

This comprehensive executive journey was developed and facilitated by VAAV Wellbeing Co-Founders, Prashant Shrestha and Chandni Ghimire.

  • Prashant Shrestha guides educators through the practical application of bottom-up safety frameworks, demonstrating how to weave neurobiological concepts seamlessly into systemic school policies and daily classroom interactions.

  • Chandni Ghimire, bringing her extensive clinical expertise as a psychologist, helps educators decode the complexities of mental health, ensuring that teachers are prepared to support the diverse emotional realities their students face every day.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Quality Kathmandu Schools (QKS) for their continued partnership and dedication to prioritizing emotional intelligence in education. A special thank you to Sanskriti International School for being such gracious hosts for this impactful two-day launch.
